چکیده

Various types of porous resins adsorbents based on polystyrene, polyvinyl alcohol, cellulose as matrixes and DNA, amino acids with other biological active molecules as ligands were extensively studied at Nankai University. Molecular recognition between the ligand and pathogenic molecule was investigated. Several commercialized products are now widely used in hospitals all over China. Whole blood hemoperfusion are used to treat patients suffering from autoimmune diseases, uremia acute intoxication and hyperbilirubinemia. Clinical performances of hundreds and thousands of patients, treated by whole blood sorption therapy are safe, efficient (90%) and cost-effective.

Cytokine adsorptive property of various adsorbents in immunoadsorption columns and a newly developed adsorbent: an in vitro study.

BACKGROUND/AIMS Cytokines play important roles in the pathophysiology of systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) and sepsis. Therefore, some effective measures to remove cytokines from the bloodstream could be effective in the treatment of SIRS and sepsis. The aim of this study was to evaluate the cytokine adsorptive property of various adsorbents for the purpose of the development of ne...

Emerging technologies in extracorporeal treatment: focus on adsorption.

As an extracorporeal technique for blood purification, haemoadsorption was introduced in the early 1960s along with other physico-chemical methods. The problem of poor biocompatibility of uncoated adsorbents was resolved by coating adsorbent granules with haemocompatible membranes. Use of coated adsorbents instead of uncoated ones reduces the efficiency of haemoperfusion. As a result, for many ...

A new isolation and purification method for staphylococcal protein A using membrane encapsulated rabbit IgG-agarose.

A new isolation and purification method for bioproducts using membrane-encapsulated affinity adsorbents was investigated. The new method involves encapsulation of affinity adsorbents, batch adsorption of the bioproduct from whole fermentation broth and rapid batch desorption after dissolution of the capsule membranes. Recovery of protein A from Staphylococcus aureus was used as the model experi...

Regulation of protein multipoint adsorption on ion-exchange adsorbent and its application to the purification of macromolecules.

Ion-exchange chromatography (IEC) using commercial ionic absorbents is a widely used technique for protein purification. Protein adsorption onto ion-exchange adsorbents often involves a multipoint adsorption. In IEC of multimeric proteins or "soft" proteins, the intense multipoint binding would make the further desorption difficult, even lead to the destruction of protein structure and the loss...

Removal of stabilizers from human serum albumin by adsorbents and dialysis used in blood purification

INTRODUCTION Human serum albumin (HSA) is a monomeric multi-domain protein that possesses an extraordinary binding capacity. It plays an important role in storing and transporting endogenous substances, metabolites, and drugs throughout the human circulatory system. Clinically, HSA is used to treat a variety of diseases such as hypovolemia, shock, burns, hemorrhage, and trauma in critically ill...
